Artist's Comments

I worked on this all night... and I don't think it's done. I wanted to have her holding something, but I couldn't think of anything that wasn't lame or expected... Don't know how much more work I'm going to do on her, if any. Maybe some small tweaks.
There's a few close up frames of the actual size.
Here's a larger cropped close up, actual size - [link]

Dunno, I just felt like making an all flesh mermaid. No separate scaley tail or anything, just all skin ( well except for the fin obviously )
Just as much painting went into this as photo manipulation.. a lot of texturing too.

This is a very mesmerizing piece. The depth of the water is so realistic and your mermaid is beautiful. You said you thought of her holding something in her hand, a heart maybe of her lover lost? Just a thought :giggle: Exceptional as always....:iconcasey-lee:

Holding something in her hand? A dead fish? :giggle: Don't know. Wonderful work.

Oh, I like her. :D The hair is beautiful. I'd expect her to be in a darker sea, though. I feel like she'd be afraid of all that sunlight.

 I'm having visions a la the Penguin in Batman ripping his teeth into the fish in that one scene. :fear: Gruesome.

she may be holding a mirror..you know, an ancient one, with a err..handle. or a hairbrush - according to legends, they like to sit and brush their hair. or these are expected ones? an unexpected thing would be a half-eaten fish. she must feed on something.
anyway, great work...though i wish she wasn't in the middle.

a squid perhaps, inking into the deep in fear of its life?

i love the smoothness, the coldness, of her skin. its an awesome idea. the forshortening of the figure is also done spectacularly well.
perspective is something i have mass trauma with. :(

(the title is a song, yes? a dancified song reciting fankenstein? i heard it once years ago but i cant find it anywhere... do you know who its by????)
